Join your BBR Community of Practice peers for a tactical, practitioner-focused conversation on rural engagement, workforce recruitment, and wrap-around services with a clear emphasis on what it actually takes to reach participants who live outside urban cores.

This session will feature concrete examples from Binghamton’s New Energy New York coalition, highlighting how workforce, education, and community partners are reducing real-world barriers related to geography, childcare, transportation, and connectivity. Participants will hear how intentional regional priority setting, satellite and hybrid service models, and strategic use of federal, state, and local resources can expand access and sustain engagement in rural communities.

Ebony Hattoh, Associate Director for New Energy New York, will share candid, implementation-level lessons learned including what is working to draw rural residents into training and placement pipelines; how to design satellite and remote services that still foster community-based support; and how to braid funding streams to cover costs that would otherwise limit participation. The session will surface practical tools, examples, and funding approaches so coalitions leave not only with a clearer understanding of the challenges, but with actionable strategies they can adapt within their own BBR regions.
