National Recognition as a Battery and Energy Storage Innovation Hub
We are leading a once-in-a-generation opportunity to connect our region’s strengths in innovation to create a sustainable economy in upstate New York. The federal government has already flagged our locale as an industry growth cluster for economically impactful battery and energy storage, through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge Award and Tech Hub designation.
In addition, a swath of 27 New York counties is considered a U.S. National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engine: The Upstate NY Energy Engine super-boosts this industry hub with a robust working ecosystem of battery R&D, technology translation and workforce development.
