First-of-its-kind facility in U.S. to advance cutting-edge battery manufacturing

The first-of-its-kind facility in the U.S. created to enable domestic, advanced manufacturing of next-gen batteries for air, land, space, water and humankind

With the ability to accommodate multiple battery formats and chemistries — from cylindrical to pouch to prismatic cells — Battery-NY comes as both a critical and novel facility to fill gaps in U.S. manufacturing and innovation. Companies can save time and money by de-risking their prototypes through Battery-NY, upping their technology readiness while centering production in the U.S. Batteries coming out of this innovative facility have applications in many industries, ranging from aerospace and marine, to automotive and consumer, to defense.

Battery-NY offers:

  • Leading edge manufacturing methods producing reliable, predictable and consistent quality
  • Flexible chemistry and format to encourage American equipment manufacturers
  • Industry demonstration scale for cylindrical, prismatic and pouch cell batteries
  • Support for companies at TRLs 4-7
  • 60+ partners in research, commercialization, workforce and economic development, alongside $115M in government support

The facility, right off the interstate, will support every step of the process necessary for producing a battery, from mixing to coating and drying, to calendering and slitting, to cell assembly and final testing. This system is designed to be flexible for multiple cell chemistries and formats, with equipment that can be regularly updated to match industry needs. An innovative climate control system additionally continually maintains ideal conditions within its dry rooms, saving on energy costs.

Save time and money with Battery-NY’s Digital Passport

Battery-NY will have the ability to actively track real-time data resulting from battery production processes, from the humidity levels of dry rooms to the amount of vibration produced by equipment. Each Battery-NY-produced cell will have a “digital passport” that details this information, streamlining production and transparency.
