Tech Hubs Official Designee

Connecting a Powerful Tech Network

NENY has been designated by the US Economic Development Association as a Tech Hub. This designation is an expansion of the EDA Build Back Better Regional Challenge, which launched NENY.

NENY's programs connect the nodes of battery prototyping, research and development, technology innovation, workforce development, environmental justice, and supply chain.

The Battery Tech Hub has an expanded partner network and region of service in upstate New York. Connecting these partners and communities through the Tech Hub strengthens U.S. competitiveness in the global battery market.

Our Tech Hub Region and Mission

The Tech Hub title refers to manufacturers, suppliers, researchers and all those involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from materials to end-of-life processing, while addressing supply chain security and climate goals.

The Battery Tech Hub region, covering 14 counties with significant rural populations and economic challenges, serves as the focus for this initiative.

Key priorities include advancing technology innovation, developing a domestic supply chain, enhancing workforce training, promoting equity and environmental justice, and building shared-use infrastructure. Proposed projects include manufacturing readiness support, a supply chain incubator, advanced training centers and R&D testbeds.

By attracting private investment and fostering new collaborations, the Hub seeks to transform the region into a leading battery technology ecosystem, driving economic recovery and contributing to U.S. energy independence and sustainability goals
