NY Loves NanoIn Germany

A dozen Albany, N.Y., area companies are participating in this week's SEMICON Europa semiconductor conference in Stuttgart, Germany.

The group is collectively marketing Tech Valley's semiconductor industry under the "NY Loves Nanotech" banner.

The fourth annual trip to Europa is organized by the Center for Economic Growth and sponsored by National Grid, the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR) and the Empire State Development Corporation.

"With more than 800 exhibitors and thousands of attendees, SEMICON Europa represents a remarkable opportunity to impress the global semiconductor community with all that New York State has to offer," said F. Michael Tucker, CEG's President and CEO. "This year's show has taken on an added air of excitement with the announcement by AMD of a new, state-of-the-art foundry to be located in Saratoga County"

Participants in this year's event include: Arsenal Business & Technology Partnership, BBL Development Group, Capovani Brothers, Inc,. CEG, Economic Development Corp. of Warren County, Empire State Development Corp., Harriman Research & Technology Campus, Luther Forest Technology Campus, Mohawk Valley EDGE, NYSTAR, National Grid, Rensselaer County Economic Development & Planning and Solid Sealing Technology, Inc.

The Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute (SEMI), has been holding similar expositions for more than three decades. Each year, SEMICON Europa attracts nearly 20,000 attendees, including more than 10,000 visitors and more than 8,000 registered exhibitors from 1,000 different companies.
