From 2006-2012, New Energy New York organized and hosted the New Energy Symposium in New York City at the New York Academy of Sciences. The Symposium featured panels of experts on topics relevant to entrepreneurship, clean energy, and small business concerns. High level keynote speakers were highlighted throughout the program.
The New Energy Symposium featured an Investment Pitch Competition, where emerging cleantech startups presented to a panel of over 40 regional and national VCs, angels, private equity investors, corporate VCs, investment bankers, and government executives. Winners of the Investment Pitch Competition received a stipend to attend the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Industry Growth Forum, along with an automatic application to the national Forum.
Over the years, NENY has hosted seven New Energy Symposiums featuring over 369 speakers and 87 investment presentations by emerging companies, and attracting over 2,500 people.
